Yunanistan’daki üniversite dönemimde katıldığım bu gezi, kuzey Yunanistan’da ticari bir sektör haline gelmiş geniş kapsamlı şarap yolu. İlk olarak 1993 yılında The Wine Producers Association Of The Northen Greece Vineyard tarafından organize edilen bu yolun ismi Wine Roads of Northen Greece. 37 şarap üreticisinin üye olduğu bu organizasyonun kuzey Yunanistan’da 8 rotası var. Bu rotalardan bir tanesi The Wine Route of Thessaloniki.
Kalabalık arkadaş grubu ile Selanik yakınlarındaki Epanomi’ye yaptığımız bu gezi sonuna kadar eğlence ve tadım doluydu. Rotamızın durağı olan Domaine Gerovassiliou’ya vardığımızda 50 hektarlık şarap bağı ve tabiatın harikalığı bende “ohh, ben burada sabahlara kadar içerim” hissi uyandırdı. Bağlarda yaptığımız gezinin ardından mahzene iniyoruz. Oldukça güzel ve modern dizayn edilmiş ortamın büyüsü daha da içine çekiyor bizi. Mahzenden sonra geçtiğimiz, şarap üreticisinin kişisel koleksiyonunu sergilediği müze oldukça enteresan ve görülmeye değer parçalara sahip.
Bu kadar bağ bahçe görüp mahzenlerde gezdikten sonra müze ile kültürel kısmı sonlandırıyoruz. Oldukça otantik ve keyifli bir konsept ile dizayn edilmiş tadım odasına geçiyoruz ve yapacağımız tadıma konsantreyiz artık. Masaya gelen yerel peynirlerden oluşan tabakların ardından, 2 kırmızı ve bir beyaz şarap tadımı yapıyoruz. Öğle vaktine denk gelen bu tadımlarda hepimiz siesta modundayız artık. Yunanlıların siesta klasiği olan masa başında uzun sohbetlere geçiyoruz.

The excursion I joined when I was studying in Greece is a wine route that has become a real trade attraction. The route was named “Wine Roads of Northern Greece” by Wine Producers Association of the Northern Greece in 1993. With 37 members, this organisation has 8 routes in Northern Greece. One of them is The Wine Route of Thessaloniki.
This trip with a cheerful-friends group to Epanomi (a village nearby Thessaloniki) was full of fun and new tastes. “Domaine Gerovassiliou” amazed us with 50 hectares of vineyard and fantastic atmosphere. After having a look at vineyards, we passed to the cellar. The ambiance was great. Thanks to the design of the place, we felt completely inside of wine making. The owner of the Winery has also created a museum next to the cellar for his personal collection. It has really old and interesting pieces as you can see some of them on the pictures.
After small trip in vineyard and cellar, we finished our culturel part of the trip with museum. We passed to the comfortable tasting room and got ready for the degustation. First, traditional cheese plates arrived with beautiful presentation and then wines followed them. We tasted two red wines and one white. It was time for siesta and we were already in that mood. We ended our trip with classic greek table talk.
